Skylark is a class of 8 children who are Year 2, Year 3 and Year 4. As well as experiencing learning difficulties, the children have autistic spectrum disorder, or similar difficulties.
The curriculum is individualised and tailored to each child. Specific support is put in place to address the particular needs of children with ASD. A high level of visual support is in place in order to give the children the best possible access to the activities on offer. The children have access to regular sensory integration activities in order to achieve a just right state for learning throughout the day.
The children in Skylark class receive a curriculum planned with a multi professional approach that focuses on developmental and functional skills, such as attention, focus, turn taking and choice making. They are also delivered an individualised work programme where early Literacy and Maths targets are worked on, on a 1-1 basis.
