Swan Class

Swan Class is a mixed Year 5/6 class consisting of 8 children. The pupils all have varied special educational needs, ranging from social, emotional and behavioural needs, to high functioning Autistic Spectrum Disorder.

All the children in Swan Class follow the National Curriculum, which is suitably differentiated. This includes visual resources, practical, written and discussion activities (pairs, small group, and whole class) which allows for the development of learning and reinforcement in all areas of the curriculum. Literacy and Numeracy are taught everyday as discrete subjects. Science is also taught discretely, but in year groups. Humanities, ICT, ART, D&T, Music, RE, and PSHE are incorporated into our “Creative Curriculum” topic approach. Pupils also participate in cookery lessons twice a term, and weekly PE and swimming lessons.
