  • Promote and facilitate sustainable travel within school

Activities that have taken place

14 – 22 June National Bike Week

During this national week long initiative, students were encouraged to make use of the specially adapted bikes that are available at break and lunch time at both Booker Park and Stocklake Park. This encouraged physical activity, and by using special marking on playground encouraged road safety awareness

14 May 2014 Harding House Sponsored Walk

18 Students from Harding House, were joined by 6 Stocklake Park students, as they embarked on a 4.5 mile sponsored walk.  The walk promoted both physical activity and a healthy lifestyle.  All students completed the walk, and received a medal and certificate.

October 2013 Gist Road Safety Visit

50 Booker Park students were shown road safety around large lorries. They enjoyed a practical demonstration of the hazards associated with large vehicles.  Students were able to experience large lorries up close to demonstrate the huge scale of the vehicles. They also enjoyed climbing into the cab of the lorry.  It made students, and staff, more aware of the dangers of large vehicles.

Hands Up Travel Survey Conducted

During the school year all students and staff are asked which mode of transport they use to travel to school, and which would be their preferred mode of transport.

Sports Relief 2014

Stocklake Park Students headed to Vale Park to take part in a sponsored walk.  They were excited to be invited to dress up as their favourite sporting personality to mark this national fundraising campaign

Students learn about road safety and about how to use public transport safely as part of the curriculum
